Discount Code Option
I think it would be great to have a discount code option which would allow us to run promotions etc throughout the year ie Xmas, Valentines etc. Think it would also be lovely to offer repeat customers a discount too. It could be a great way of promoting customer loyalty.
Discount codes are now LIVE.
You will find a link to the Discount Codes admin page on the left hand side of your Dashboard.

Discount codes would be better

I think discount codes would be better than an overall sale. I'd like to offer certain people a discount price (repeat customers, people at craft markets etc) while keeping the prices on my shop at full price at times when I don't want everyone to get the items for a discount price.
Being able to easily have a sale is a good idea aswell but it's not the same and I would personally prefer discount codes. -

When can we have discount codes? I want to be able to offer discounts to people attending events so I can see where business is coming from

Hi Folksy - is there an update on this as this thread is nearly a year old. I know people with Etsy stores are able to have codes and it's making me consider moving as it's something I would love to be able to offer to my repeat customers and those that sign up to my newsletter

We need to have the option for both Sales and Discount Codes as they are not the same, but both have their place. I would like to be able to offer repeat customers or particular groups a discount code as appreciation or promotion.

Discount codes would be really helpful, I do agree that whilst it appears they do not get used, a repeat customer will be helped along by a small token of appreciation.

A sales button would be much appreciated :)

I agree that a "Sale" option is a great idea. However, Discount Codes are a totally different concept, which I would also welcome!
May we please have both? -

Sales and discounts are different things, and ideally we need both!
After Christmas, I need an easy way to say "January Sale - 20% off everything" without editing every listing.
But to reward returning customers for loyalty I need to be able to target them specifically with "just for you - get 5% discount at checkout with this code" whilst leaving all the prices the same on my shop.

I would like a discount code. I intend to use a different one for each event I attend so that I can monitor where the business is coming from.

I would like to offer free UK P&P to those who 'Like' my facebook page. I think a code would be necessary for that.

I'd like to be able to offer discount on multiple purchases. Is this a possibility you might be able to work in?

Hi - is this function available now or when will it be?

I agree. It would be really helpful to have a way to do discount codes.
e.g. "10% off when you spend over £20 and use code XXXX".
e.g. "Free P&P when you use code YYYY".I think these are the two options which I would use the most, and are a great way to encourage people to come and look at you work.
Having this functionality by the end of October would be really helpful so we can use it for Christmas.
One of my suppliers does free P&P on first order if you use code XXXX at checkout - her shop is powered by Actinic if you would like to see how someone else does it. She finds that this does improve her first-time sales, and it's also a great offer to give out on little cards at shows.
Please do keep me posted on progress. Thanks!
Jane Cameron.

I realise you've researched discount codes and not found them widely used, but I just wanted to add that I think discount codes would be really useful. Whilst the promotions idea sounds good, it does seem to be a promotion that any customer can take part in, whereas that is not what I am after. I often want to give an individual customer a discount, whether that's a percentage or a physical amount off their next purchase.
Currently, there are only two ways I know of doing this. Firstly having the sale outside of Folksy. This means you're missing out on commission from the sales and my profile is missing out on sales and potential feedback, which is good for potential customers viewing my shop.
Secondly refunding the customer the amount they would have saved through paypal. Although this solves the problems of the first way I mentioned, it does seem to create problems in that it may put customers off because it's a longwinded way of doing it. Personally it puts me off as a seller too. I would rather have a way of having it knocked off at the beginning.
I hope this comment/view helps in your review. I realise that it is difficult to make all changes that users would like.

Discount codes & sales function are a must to keep up with other sites like Etsy that already allow these options... Please Folksy, to have this set up in time for Xmas would be a real help to us small businesses!

We need to be able to offer discounts not just sales - just sales is far too limiting. I like to offer discounts to big paying customers to tempt them back for return visits.

Yes that would help but also being able to give customers a discount voucher to help promote future sales.

I think the 'sales' feature would be a start but I'd like the ability to offer special discounts eg if I give out cards at craft fairs I like to include a discount code to encourage people to look at our online shop. The sales function wouldn't do this. Big Cartel seems to have a great range of discounts available which would be wonderful...
