WE NEED A FOLKSY APP!!!For both facebook and mobile devices!
We need a folksy app for mobile devices and for our facebook pages. To keep up with other selling sites we need to have similar options for potential customers. They are not going to buy from us if there is a simpler way to go through an etsy/ebay app and find things from their phones etc It is really falling behind not having this option, these days its strange there's not an app for it! Folksy should be a bigger name within the uk than other selling sites as it is uk based and this would help toward that! Ease of use is everything for customers, i think we need the app options to provide a simple way for customers to view our products
We need to be an equal marketplace to others and this would help make that so
We have been working on an App for Folksy sellers and it’s now ready to download and use!
We’ve focused on doing the core things well (ie creating and editing listings) but will be adding more features like variations and order notifications in future releases.
You can read more about the Sell on Folksy app and download it here – https://blog.folksy.com/2021/03/18/folksy-sellers-app
This app is just for selling on Folksy but we are planning to introduce and app for shoppers too.

I very rarely see any updates to the Folksy platform, if ever. I know it's a smaller site than most... but items do get sold here, so money most be being made. Are there any useful developments going on at Folksy HQ? An APP is very much one that's needed. Better advertising of the Platform would be a really fruitful direction to go in, and generally tweaking the aesthetics of the website to ensure everything looks perfect for potential buyers. Folksy, I know you're comparatively small... but that doesn't mean you need to look small!!!

Actually, the development of an app would benefit so many UK sellers, and encourage them to sell through a UK based platform instead of paying fees to overseas companies, that it should also be of interest to the government to support it. Maybe there is some kind of grant available? Or some patriotic members of the dragon's den!

Also, I rely on app notifications to my phone and tablet to respond quickly to enquiries and orders.

Absolutely! I mostly use etsy to sell because I find it so much easier to add and manage listings (not just because of the app) I also do most of my online shopping using apps on my tablet. I really want a UK based site to be my only outlet, but it needs to be easier!

I just joined Folksy and am disappointed to say the least that there is no app. I manage most of my selling from my phone. Maybe need to rethink using this site.

Absolutely! Folksy needs an app. This should be fairly simple yet stand out. Not only would a Folksy app on mobile & tablet be useful to buyers who are looking for something ‘special’ but it would be more than useful to sellers, who aren’t near their laptop to check for sales or customer queries. An app would be really useful to both sellers & buyers ‘on the move’ or for just a quick check.

There's another "we need an app" post here too:

Definitely need to develop an app. Please can Folksy get the crowdfunding started?

Folksy definitely need to develop an App sooner rather than later otherwise they will be left behind other handmade online selling organisations and potentially loose their own online shopkeepers. An app makes life so much easier! Folksy has been around a long time and need to keep up with trends. It's 2017 for goodness sake.

I'd like to llink this shop to my Facebook page so people can buy from my page? Is this possible?

I have just joined Folksy as an addition to Etsy. I love the idea of an English shop for our crafts. Like others though, I am amazed that there is no App and see this as a major flaw.
I have added three votes to try and lift its priority, but I'm concerned there has been no reply.
Come on Folksy, how about giving us an update. Is an App being considered or not?

Maybe a Folksy seller knows someone who designs apps?

I liked the idea that was suggested on the forums of crowdfunding an app. As folksy cannot afford it why don't we all chip in and get one made?
It would extend our reach and as many people download the app store's suggested apps, it would introduce us to many people who've never heard of folksy.
Let's do this!!!! -

I'm new to Folksy and just listed a couple of things. Decided to install the app only to find there isn't one. How on earth are potential customers going to find me if they don't have an app installed. Virtually nobody searches from laptops & PC's anymore. Folksy is dead in the water without one, as are my listings !!!

I am so close to closing my Folksy shop because Folksy are just not keeping up with stuff that other selling sites have had for 2 years or more. It took about 5 years of asking just to get discount codes. I suspect that asking for something as important as a mobile app is going to take another 5 years, which quite frankly I am not prepared to hang around for. I have given up even sending my customers to my Folksy shop and send them to Etsy all the time as conversations are linked to the items on there, not here, we don't even have copies of e-mails on here. The kind of app I would be looking for is like the Etsy one, so you go straight to the activity/manage listings but can quickly flick to the shopping side of things. Good luck to everyone who is voting for this, I have added my weight of votes for you, but don't expect anything to happen within the next 2 years.

Not sure how to vote, but an app is essential marketing. The App ikon would appear on the phone screen as a permanent advertisement, a bit like the Amazon app...so easy. No signing in, no filling in forms.
oh and by the way, it's really irritating when you are trying to write a listing and press the 'back' button and everything you have added disappears. I find it so irritating that i just don't bother retyping and leave the web page. the sellers need to be as engaged with the process as the buyers to keep the turnover fresh and lively.
so there! -

I can't believe we even need to ask for this! I love the ethos behind a fully British site, but i go to Etsy to list my products because of the massive benefits there are with them - an app and all sorts of amazing related features being the main reason. Come on Folksy, i can't believe there's not even an official reply from you on this, it would be so simple and SO beneficial!

I'm not clear whether people want a buyers app, or a sellers app, or both? As a buyer, what does an app offer you that a mobile optimised site (which Folksy have) doesn't? Or is it that the seller element isn't mobile optimised and is very tricky to use on a mobile? I don't have a view personally by the way, and there is a view that apps, once downloaded drive loyalty in buyers, but you do need to get that all important download.......

Hello - Folksy sounds brilliant and as a Glass Artist living and working out of rural Wiltshire I can fully support the Made in Britain ethos. But I have a shop on Etsy and regularly sell at craft fayres where the Etsy App is invaluable for instantly keeping stock updated to prevent duplicate sales of "unique hand-made glass" that I can't replicate. It also ensures I can respond to customers quickly and give them the very best service. PLEASE, PLEASE create a Folksy App for smartphones so I can join this lovely community.
