Good evening everyone. Is there any hope of videos as well as photos for our listings? Dare I say, E**y has them. It would be great to have them.
I find a video on Instagram gets more likes and really shows off my work. So I’m sure it would be a fantastic asset to showcase our work on Folksy.

Whilst I agree that videos would be a great addition I suspect they would require a lot of server space so are unlikely to happen (you can make a formal suggestion via Suggested Features: Hot (200 ideas) – Folksy Support & Knowledge Base 1 and then get people to vote for your suggestion).
If you have put videos on instagram you can always mention in the listing that it is possible to view the video there (hyperlinks wouldn’t be clickable and I think insta urls contain characters that folksy descriptions don’t allow).

Just to say that you can add a link to the video on your social - as you say Sasha they aren’t clickable, but you can paste the link in & just tell people they need to copy & paste into their browser to view. I’ve done this for my wind spinners as the photos really don’t do them justice…not that my video skills are that much better :laughing: I just popped it in the inspiration section…

I would like to have the option to add one short (30 seconds maybe) video in addtition to our five photos.

However I would like to have this function so much I would be happy to sacrifice one of my five photos for it! :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes: :+1: :rofl: :joy:

Its always worth asking but I like to manage expectations around things that would require big changes to the listing page - I know how long it took us to get variations and more than 5 photos! I’d work out how to link videos on insta to the listing as that will be much quicker.

Videos are something we’re looking at as part of an update of the listings page, but there are lots of pros and cons that we need to consider first, alongside the administrative and technical issues. So it’s definitely not a no, but it’s not going to be immediate, I’m afraid.

How about being able to add a link to a YouTube or Vimeo video that played in a pop up window
That would save server space and make videos available
Could start simply by adding one link to a general shop promo and later add the feature to product videos

The videos on YouTube etc would in turn promote folky in general if they included a folksy splash screen and folksy icons
A win win for everyone
Seller promotes and folsky attracts a bigger audience

Yes, allowing one clickable link in the listing to a video platform would be a way to get this up and running until the function can be brought in officially :+1: :+1: :+

I think folksy has a vimeo or youtube channel - add this to the comments in the suggestion on the uservoice thing as its something they should consider
