  1. Interactive Local Travel & Shopping Guides for Handmade Product Lovers

Many shoppers are interested in discovering local markets, artisan fairs, craft festivals, and unique shopping destinations alongside buying handmade products online. It would be great if Folksy offered an interactive guide section where sellers and buyers could share recommendations for local craft events, independent shops, and creative communities.

This feature could help strengthen connections between makers and customers while supporting local businesses. Similar community-focused travel and discovery content has become increasingly popular among users looking for authentic experiences. For example, travel platforms such as https://dubaibrief.com highlight how local recommendations and hidden gems can drive engagement and encourage community participation.

  2. Handmade Wooden Gates vs Mass-Produced Ones

I really appreciate the craftsmanship that goes into handmade woodwork, whether it's furniture, garden pieces, or even driveway gates. I've been looking at some bespoke designs on https://drivewaydrivewaygates.co.uk/ and it got me wondering, do you prefer handmade, made-to-measure products over factory-made ones? I'd love to hear what everyone values most when it comes to quality and craftsmanship.

  3. Bathroom Inspiration & Local Project Showcase

It would be great if Folksy introduced a section where home improvement businesses could showcase real project galleries, before-and-after transformations, and design inspiration. This would help users discover trusted local specialists and get ideas for their own projects. A good example of how project galleries inspire homeowners can be seen at https://dundeebathrooms.com/. It would make the platform more engaging while helping quality local businesses build trust with potential customers.

It would be great if Folksy could provide built-in SEO suggestions for product titles, descriptions, and tags to help sellers improve their visibility in search results and attract more buyers.

  5. Should Small Businesses Invest in SEO Before Paid Advertising

Many independent businesses have limited marketing budgets, so deciding where to invest first can be challenging. In my experience, building a strong organic presence through SEO can create a steady flow of visitors without relying entirely on paid ads. While researching industry-specific SEO strategies, I came across https://seoforlegalfirms.co.uk/, which shows how targeting a niche audience can produce better long-term results than broad marketing. I'd love to hear how other small business owners have balanced SEO with paid advertising and what has worked best for them.

  7. AI-Powered Forum Insight & SEO Boost Tool for Folksy Forums

Folksy Forums could introduce an AI feature that summarizes long discussions into key insights, FAQs, and best answers, making threads easier to navigate and more engaging.

From an SEO perspective, this would also help surface high-quality content faster and improve indexable structure for search engines. As an SEO agency in Swindon https://seocompanyswindon.co.uk/, we see how structured, well-organized content significantly improves rankings and user engagement—this feature would add real value for both users and search visibility.

  8. Simple SEO Tips to Help Your Folksy Shop Get Found

Many Folksy sellers miss out on Google traffic because of basic SEO mistakes. Use descriptive product titles, write unique descriptions, and include keywords your customers actually search for. These small changes can improve visibility over time. If you're a business in Chester looking for more SEO tips or support, visit https://seocompanychester.co.uk/.

  9. “Step-by-Step Service Checklists” for Public Service Portals

One issue I often see with public service information websites is that users don’t just need instructions—they need clear action checklists they can follow without confusion.

Even when the information is available, people still get stuck because steps are spread across long paragraphs or multiple pages.

A simple improvement that could make a big difference is adding a visual checklist format for each service, such as:

Eligibility checklist (Who can apply / requirements)
Documents checklist (What to prepare before starting)
    Step-by-step application flow
    Common mistakes to avoid
Estimated processing time in one clear section

This makes the process much easier…

  10. Add "Local Tips from Residents" to Destination Pages

One feature I'd love to see on travel and community websites is a "Local Tips from Residents" section instead of relying only on standard travel information.

Visitors often want answers to questions that typical guides don't cover, such as:

Which attractions are less crowded during the week?
Where do locals actually go for affordable food?
What's the easiest way to get around without renting a car?
Which seasonal events are worth planning a trip around?
What are some common mistakes first-time visitors should avoid?

Allowing trusted community members to contribute practical tips could make destination pages much more valuable while…

Another feature Folksy could consider is a “Maker Studio Tour” section that allows artisans to showcase their workshops, creative spaces, and behind-the-scenes processes through photos, videos, and interactive stories.

Many customers are increasingly interested in learning how handmade products are created and who makes them. Giving sellers a platform to share their workspaces, crafting techniques, and personal journeys would help build trust and create stronger connections between buyers and makers.

This type of storytelling can also encourage repeat purchases by making the shopping experience more personal and engaging. Similar content-driven platforms, including https://dubaidailypress.com/, demonstrate how behind-the-scenes features and human-interest…

  12. AI-Powered SEO & Product Description Assistant for Sellers

One feature that could really improve Folksy is an AI-powered product description and SEO helper for sellers. Many small creators struggle with writing optimized titles, tags, and descriptions that attract buyers through search engines.

A built-in tool that suggests keywords, improves product descriptions, and generates SEO-friendly tags could help handmade sellers get more visibility and sales while saving time.

I recently explored some useful SEO and online service content ideas here as well: https://parivahansewaain.com/

This kind of smart optimization feature could make Folksy even more creator-friendly and competitive.

  13. Smart Seller Utility & Customer Resource Hub

A feature that could really help Folksy users is a built-in “Seller Utility & Customer Info” section where shop owners can share useful guides, digital tips, and region-specific resources with buyers.

For example, many UAE-based users often search for telecom-related information like SIM ownership, mobile number checks, and account verification before making online purchases or coordinating deliveries. Adding a small community knowledge section or resource-sharing feature could improve trust and communication between buyers and sellers.

A useful reference I found on this topic is: https://dubaiarchives.com/du-number-check/

This could make Folksy more community-focused and helpful beyond just buying and selling.

  15. Allow absolute pricing or negative price deltas for variants.

If you are selling multiple sizes of an item, the headline pricing on a listing can be misleading for the customer as it is for the cheapest variant and then you need to add cost for the larger ones.

It would be useful to be able to set the headline price for the size you are mainly aiming to sell, and then have the variants at a lower cost.

  16. Fees for Multiple Listings That Are The Same

On Etsy, "if you list multiple quantities of the same item, the initial listing fee will be $ 0.20 USD, and the listing will be automatically renewed at $ 0.20 after each item sells." This would seem to be a fairer system. I am reluctant to list multiple items on Folksy owing to the extra fees. This might prove prohibitive to a buyer who wishes to purchase multiple items that are the same.

  17. More Social Link Options

As a trans person, I do not use anything owned by Meta or Twitter; those places are extremely unsafe for me. I have a BlueSky account and a Mastodon account. Requiring that we give specific social links, rather than letting us add our own, is very limiting: I don't have accounts on any of the services you include options for, and you don't include options for the services I do use. I assume it's so you can add the specific service's logo, but I'd rather no logo and the ability to actually include my socials.

  18. Add Isle of Wight to your list of counties (we are not part of Hampshire)

The Isle of Wight is not listed as a county under your South-East England list, this means my shop is not showing in this search feature. I am sure there are other Isle of Wight shops that must have the same problem.

  19. Bluesky Sharing Button Please

Is there any way we could have a button to share listings to Bluesky please? I know Facebook isn't an option, but now twitter is dead, Bluesky seems to be where all the creatives are gathering. It would be really helpful to be able to share there.

  20. Marking items as sold (where it has sold outside of Folksy) so that it is still visible to customers viewing my shop.

I sell many of my original works of art at fairs and exhibitions and would like customers to be able to see an item they have seen in person has now sold. This is particularly important for original works of art, where there is only 1 item ever available. If I change the stock amount to zero the listing is hidden. It would be great if my store could show the listing of the item that has sold as a means to showcase my original works of art rather than my store just showcasing the art prints and cards that…
