What happens when I sell something?

How will I know if I’ve sold something?

Orders appear on your Shop Dashboard, so log in regularly to keep an eye out for them! You will also be emailed automatically by Folksy to confirm an order has been placed. This will tell you the buyer’s details and the details of the item they have ordered.  

Emails are sent to the email address you have registered with Folksy. You can check that this email address is correct by logging into Folksy, clicking on 'change password and email address' on the left hand side of your Dashboard. If you do not receive emails from Folksy, please check your spam folder. If the emails are not there, please contact Support.

You should also receive an email from Paypal to your Paypal email address to confirm that the item has been paid for.
When you have received payment, you should post the item within 3 days (unless otherwise stated on your listing page).

I've received an email that says my buyer was unable to pay

If customers have problems checking out or paying through PayPal, there’s a link at the bottom of the basket taking them to a form where they can detail their problem. This places an order with you but you will need to contact the buyer to arrange payment. Please contact the buyer ASAP to help resolve the issue. Alternatively you can cancel the order.

Change the shipping status

Once the item has been posted please change the status of the order to Shipped in Your dashboard > Your Orders. This sends an email to the buyer to let them know that the item has been posted.

Sometimes Paypal fails to send an Instant Payment Notification (IPN) to Folksy. If you order has been paid for, but has not been marked as paid, please check your Paypal account to make sure you have received payment. You can then mark your order as paid manually from the 'view order detail' page so you can update the shipping status.

Leave feedback

It is good practice to leave feedback for the buyer. If you’re not sure what to say, just thank them for their order :)

If feedback is not available for an order, the buyer was not registered or signed in when they placed the order. Feedback cannot be given by buyer or seller for guest purchases.
