Folksy Fees and Subscription Policy

1. Listing Fees

Basic Account (Pay As You Go)

  • You are charged £0.15 + VAT per item listed.

  • This includes new listings and re-listings.

  • Listings last for 120 days unless the item sells out or quantity is reduced to zero.

  • You can re-list items up to once per day before they expire.

Example: If you list 10 identical items (e.g. knitted hats) in one listing, the fee will be 15p x 10 = £1.50 + VAT = £1.80 total.

  • Fees for listings and PayPal transactions are paid through PayPal.

  • Fees for Stripe transactions are deducted at the point of sale by Stripe.

If you are just getting started, we recommend listing small quantities and re-listing as needed to manage costs.


2. Folksy Plus Account

If you plan to list a lot of items, the Folksy Plus Plan offers unlimited listings for a fixed fee.

  • £7.50 month or £75 year

  • Includes:

    • Unlimited listings

    • Free re-listing

    • The same 6% + VAT commission as Basic (see below)

Subscription and Billing

  • Payment is collected by Direct Debit via GoCardless.

  • The subscription renews automatically unless cancelled.

  • We will give you at least 10 working days’ notice of any changes to price or billing terms.

  • You can cancel your subscription at any time from Dashboard > Shop Settings > Plus Account.

  • To avoid being charged for the next billing period, you must cancel at least 3 working days before your renewal date.

Cooling-Off and Refunds

  • When you sign up to the Folksy Plus Plan, you have a 14-day cooling-off period under UK consumer law.

  • If you cancel within this 14-day window and have not yet used the service (e.g. listed or re-listed an item), you will receive a full refund.

  • If you cancel after the cooling-off period or after using the service, your payment is non-refundable.

Direct Debit Guarantee

  • All Direct Debit payments are protected by the Direct Debit Guarantee.

  • You are entitled to a full and immediate refund from your bank if any payment is made in error or without your authorisation.

  • You may also cancel your Direct Debit at any time by contacting your bank.


3. Commission Fees

  • We charge a 6% + VAT commission on the item sale price for all accounts.

  • Postage is excluded from this commission.

  • Commission applies whether you are on the Basic or Plus plan.

  • Commission on Stripe payments is deducted automatically; PayPal commissions are billed monthly.


4. Billing and Payments

  • Bills are generated monthly, in arrears, for any charges over £2.

  • If your fees total less than £2, they will roll over to the next month.

  • You will receive a bill by email on the 1st of the month, payable by the 1st of the following month via PayPal.

  • If your bill remains unpaid, your account will be placed on hold until payment is received.


5. VAT

  • 20% VAT is added to all listing and selling fees.

  • To calculate the VAT-inclusive amount, multiply the fee by 1.2 (e.g. £1.50 × 1.2 = £1.80).
