Offer buyers a choice of 1st or 2nd class postage
With Royal Mail putting up the price of stamps again (grr!) it would be good to be able to offer a choice of cheaper or faster postage depending on the buyer's needs.
This is a nice idea. The full range of postage options (1st class, 2nd class, signed-for, recorded delivery, personal collection, etc) might be a little tricky to design for though, not to mention more complicated for buyers.
We’ll have a think though and will consider what might work best.
Many thanks,

Hi, can anyone on Team Folksy advise on what’s happening with this please? It looks a very old suggestion that has perhaps been forgotten about as tech support responded in 2012! From my experience, customers expect choice with online shopping delivery these days - and so this is a real limitation to sellers on Folksy. There are times when we sellers need to potentially upgrade delivery (where customers require faster, tracked etc) and therefore currently have to absorb the cost :-( or the customer shops elsewhere :-(
An update on this would be much appreciated.
Many thanks :-) -

Definitely agree with the other comments. My little card shop Sea Pink Cards could use this facility. I try to keep my cards at a fair and affordable price and giving the customer an easy option to select 1st or 2nd class postage would be great.

This is becoming very critical with so many postal charge increases, as many shops sell low value items that cannot absorb the increase in the price, or the postage makes the product not worth buying. With a simple 1st, 2nd or collection option, the customer choses what they pay, they are also aware of the delivery times, and mainly they don't unfairly get charged if they are collecting.

I think this would be a great idea, I would like to be able to give customers the choice. I only use parcel post but instead of Folksy having to list all the options perhaps we could fill the £ Box in ourselves as we do now but with both price options, maybe the customer could tick a box next to the one they want to use and pay for. .

For me, I think this is a priority to have shipping upgrades.
On Etsy I often have people choose "Signed For' or 'Special Delivery', Especially in the run up to Christmas. -

Great idea,
Don’t need loads of options, just 1st or 2nd class, or tracked -

I would support the idea of being able to offer an option for tracked postage as well as standard.

I use standard 2nd class most of the time as this seems to be what my buyers select most on Etsy but occasionally one or two will want to upgrade their postage to first class.

It would be good to be able to offer different postage rates for international postage as there is a large difference between 6 day delivery or 42 days delivery, all our UK postage goes 1st class anyway. I feel if we could offer these different prices it would increase international sales as we have to list the most expensive prices which I feel is off putting for many customers.

I would love an option to send tracked and signed, as this can be significantly more expensive, but may be preferable for some!

Just first or second class options would be brilliant - PLEASE offer this.

i agree - asked for this to be considered back in June. First class parcel post is getting ridiculous, especially since the rates have been changed yet again. It would be so much easier to give the customer the option to request posting by 1st, 2nd or special delivery without us having to take the additional price increases.

Postage has gone up yet again - so it is now over £5 to send a 1st class package over 16cm x 16cm :o( Could we revisit this request please?

Also a free postage option for collection or emailed pdf files e.g. patterns or tutorials please!

shouldn't be that difficult - plenty of other sites allow this type of postage option for buyers, and it makes the seller (and the site) look more professional, and will increase site traffic, sales and profits for all
And where do you get 'not to mention more complicated for buyers.' from??? As a buyer on many different sites, including ebay, Amazon, vistaprint and ebuyer, all of which offer different postal options I do not believe it makes things complicated - it simply gives me the option of fast/cheaper/signed for delivery. -

I think this is a great idea - would it really be that difficult to design? Do you not just need to be able to list UK destination more than once to give different rates of postage and refer to the amounts in the listing. It is then up to the customer to choose. Not being a computer techie I probably don't appreciate how difficult it is. It works on ebay and as a buyer I've never had a problem working out which option I should be choosing and how much it is going to cost.
Please, please consider it. I always send my stuff by 1st class post and don't want to change to 2nd class without the customer being happy to wait.

an option for next day delivery would be handy, for people shopping at the last minute, it would encourage buyers that they could option for a extra speedy delivery!
