  1. Use crowd funding to start advertising campaign

I'm new to folksy, I have just subscribed to a plus account. I deliberated over it quite a bit because of Folksy's poor general exposure compared to some of its rivals. I get it you don't want to sell your soul to the devil, but that excuse only gets you so far. If you conduct yourself ethically then whats the problem with increased traffic, sales, exposure. I also get the catch 22, No bucks No Buck Rogers! So if the Folksy community gets it, then they won't mind if you ask them to help and use crowd funding to fuel…

  2. An improved description for the Scotland gift guide

Suggest making it more arts and crafts focused - current description is quite stereotypical and patronising and misses the opportunity to highlight a strong craft tradition.

  3. Request customer mobile phone number at checkout

Many (most?) couriers require a phone number as well as an email address for deliveries but Folksy does not ask customers to provide a phone number. In order to place an order with the courier I usually use my own mobile phone number. This means the customer does not receive parcel tracking text messages. Also, occasionally a courier may have trouble locating a property and if they have a phone number they will call the customer. I think is would be useful if Folksy requested (not required) a mobile phone number at checkout.Interested to know if others agree.

  4. It would be really useful if 'Listings' was one of the options on the drop-down menu

It would be really useful if, after editing an item you could simply go to the menu and choose 'listings' rather than having to click on dashboard and then listings.

  5. Add "view in browser" to emails

For some reason, emails from folksy never show pictures just blue question marks. It's quite likely something to do with my computer blocking them, but I'm probably not the only one. Could you add a 'view in browser' link to the email so I (and anyone else having problems) can see the email?

  6. Make similar alternative suggestions for unavailable items

I noticed that currently Folksy suggests random alternative items from my shop when I view a sold item. Would be better if it suggested items from the same section of my shop in the first instance and only suggest those from other categories if there aren't any similar e.g. if someone is looking at a copper bangle which has sold, suggest other items from my copper jewellery or bracelet section rather than a scarf.

  7. Body Jewellery Option

Hi, could an option for body jewellery be added? At the moment I have my piercing jewellery (nose and navel) listed as 'earrings'!

  9. Click and Collect

Our market manager has just sent us an article suggesting that, under the current circumstances, more and more local people would prefer to use click and collect, and then visit the store briefly to pick up their iutem rather than paying postage. Is this something Folksy could do?

  10. categories within cards for type e.g. letterpress, Handprinted, digital, pop-up etc

Lots of cards aren’t subject specific and people often search for cards by type e.g. pop up or letterpress rather than by message or occasion I think.

  11. Shop sub sections under a main section header

Meaning if you have a section for bags, have sub sections within that header for separate styles such as clutch, tote etc

  12. Keep sold items visible in shop but mark as ‘sold’

I make repeats of my birds and when they sell out and therefore disappear from my shop, customers get irritated because they look for an item and can’t find it. They don’t see the ‘sold items’ link. If the products were still visible in my shop but marked ‘sold out’ at least they can see all the details, price, size etc, and that is was available but now sold. Hope this makes sense 😃

  13. Get rid of percentages linked to stars

It is so disappointing to see your percentage drop due to a four star review.
I have experienced this and seen it happen on other shops. The customer is very pleased with the item but takes off a star, because for instance, it is a gift and hasn’t tried it.
This is upsetting as you can never recover to 100% through no fault of your own. It doesn’t look good to a potential customer either if the percentage rating has dropped.
Let’s just have a star average instead.

  14. Character or space count for Tags

We have the ability to add up to 15 tags, but that can vary depending on the length of the actual tags used. It would be really helpful to have a counter of some kind that alerts you when you're exceeding the space - quite often I enter my keyword tags, publish the page, then see that the last tag has been cut in half or truncated. It makes updating tags very long winded and fiddly!

  16. Sub category for felted items

I never know where to put my needle felted sculptures. I know there are sections for textile art and ornaments etc, but I think there are probably enough felting artists around now (both wet felting and needle felting) to warrant a sub category somewhere. Thanks.

  17. Include recipient's name with address on orders please

Please can the recipient's name be included with the address on the orders page? I have just had to refund a customer and cancel the order due to the confusion caused by the absence of a name on the parcel. The recipients' names need to be with their addresses especially as orders are sometimes sent to a third party and not always sent to the customer who has paid for the goods.

  18. Make Shop Name an automatic extra tag on all listings in a shop

My daughter was looking for something in my shop the other day and observed it is a shame there is no facility to search for things within a specific shop. She is quite right.
Ok if you have a shop with limited stock but my shop is heaving with things and there's an awful lot of pages to get through if the thing you want is on the last page.
I did suggest that if she had added Joysofglass to her search term it might have helped as I very often add it as a tag.
    From now on I…

  19. More categories

As I'm a maker of sketchbooks and other various handbound books they don't quite fit into any category on the website yet (my mini's arent scrapbooks or stationary either). Im sure other things from other makers don't fit into the categories that are on the site either? The previous idea on more categories didn't seem to get solved, only having "collections" on your shop changed. Looking at it as a customer to this website for the first time the categories the website has for browsing is small. As a seller, my items don't fit into any of the categories that…

  20. Pencils & Pens Sub-Category in Stationery Category

I sell HB pencils, but there isn't a pencils category. My choices are Homeware > Office > Everything Else, or to hash it and do Cards & Stationery > Stationery & Bookmarks and just pick one so that people actually looking for stationery can find them.

I feel like there should be a pencils and pens/writing implements category in Stationery. It's hard to predict what people are looking up when they're browsing categories (as opposed to searching 'pencil'). There are so many types of stationery as well, I feel like the category could be expanded.

    I know there's the Homewares…
